The Anglican Church of the Resurrection (ACR) started with a small gathering of some Nigerian Anglican residents in Indianapolis, who met in a fellowship gathering on July 17, 2002 with the Rt.Rev Peter Adebiyi (Diocesan Bishop of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion). During the gathering, the Bishop gave his approval for interested Nigerian Anglicans and other Christians who needed a safe place of worship to find a suitable place and gather for worship. The Bishop encouraged Ven. Amos Fagbamiye (Now Suffragan Bishop of CANA) to shepherd the people who genuinely yearned for their own space so that they have their own Nigerian indigenous worship like back home. The first worship of the worshipers was held on Saints Day, Sunday November 3, 2002 at a hired place, Seven Day Adventist Church on Michigan Road which is just a stone throw from our own building at 5733 N Michigan Rd which we purchased in 2005. Today our congregation has well over six different nationalities.

Our mission statement is “But we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God” 1 Corinthians 1:23-24.

ACR is under the leadership of the Rt Rev. Amos Fagbamiye (Rector & Suffragan Bishop of CANA) and the other clergy are Rev. Idowu Adewakun (Associate Rector), Rev. John Beasley (Assistant Rector) and Rev. James Mwangi (Assisting Priest) ACR is a Christ-centered mission, outwardly focused, and committed to evangelism, discipleship and church planting. We have a diverse congregation representing people from a variety of backgrounds, nations, races and ages. The church is affiliated with the Convocation of Anglicans in North Americans (CANA).

Verse of the Day

2 Timothy 1:13-14
“What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”
